How Lettuce Know works

Scan a barcode. We check it against live FDA and USDA recalls, then flag any ingredients the US and EU regulate differently. Save a product and we'll keep watching it every time the data refreshes.

Where the data comes from

Good to know

Recalls match on brand and product name, not the barcode itself. No public database links the two, so “no recall found” means nothing matched, not that a product's cleared.

The EU/US notes show what each regulator allows. They're not a safety score.

Ingredient flags come from label text in the product databases. “May contain” warnings usually aren't in there, so check the package yourself if you're managing an allergy.

Always check the lot code and date on your own package before deciding anything.

Something look off?

Matching is fuzzy by design, so it'll miss sometimes. Tell us what you found and it helps us fix the matching for everyone.

Your data

No account, nothing tracked. Your watchlist, history, and settings live only in this browser. The only thing we send anywhere is the barcode, to check it against FDA and USDA data.
